Shoot With X Factor's Soheila Clifford

So, I bumped into Soheila Clifford from the X Factor TV show and did a shoot the very next day with her!

Soheila Clifford, X Factor

Shot in the steel factory of Magna in Sheffield, the venue kindly gave us access to the ground level where all of the steel equipment is for some exceptional Steampunk shots.

There are many more from this shoot to be developed, and once again I am incredibly happy that a very talented artist expressed a wish to work with me to create something that reflects them.

James Bond Actress Images are In!

Last weekend Martin met up with Mounia Moula, who is appearing in the new James Bond movie for an epic shoot in Snowdonia!

This shoot took place at an abandoned mine with an inland lake. I built the platform beneath the water that Mounia is stood on. Using a lot of care, Profoto lights were placed into the lake itself to light the scene, and in particular make the smoke ‘pop’ when it fell from the lantern. I’m used to hanging off mountain faces, being submerged in water or in some kind of compromised position in order to get my shots, so it’s fantastic when my model is also happy to take a risk on making something unique. How did I get Mounia to the platform in the middle of the lake without her getting wet? That’s a secret :)

From shooting to image production was just a couple of days. I’ve always been honoured to shoot actors, movie directors and other celebrities who enjoy my fantastical view of the world. It’s amazing when I explain the vision I have of them and they go along with me; it take’s a lot of trust to create images like this after trekking up a mountain in the freezing cold!

Thank you to Mounia Moula for believing in the vision and making it come to life with me.

Another Hollywood Shoot this Weekend!

The 3 day holiday weekend is here… so we’re working with Mike Tyson’s personal trainer and Hollywood actress Mounia Moula!

Mounia is best known for her work on Inception, Wonder Woman and Ghost in the Shell. She’s flown in from Paris to shoot with Martin during a break from her current movie production (no spoilers, sorry!).

Mounia is a very hardcore martial artist, parkour champion as well as actress, so expect something extraordinary as we pull the shoot together. This one will be extra beautiful, full of movement and will be certain to break traditional photographic boundaries!

Hollywood Shoot This Weekend

One of the things I love about this job is the variety of people I get to shoot. From artists and musicians, to couples on their wedding day; it’s always a pleasure.

This weekend I am the official photographer for Horrocon; the largest and most prestigious horror convention in the UK. I do it every year due to my love of crazy imagery, and I really get to take some crazy photographs at Horrorcon! I’ve been promised Silent Hill nurses, Clive Barker’s art collection and many. many more amazing visual opportunities.

One of the things I’m looking forward is shooting and working with Corey Feldman and Dario Argento. Dario in particular has been an influence on me for his directorial film style, use of colour, compoition and lighting techniques. Often called the Italian Hitchcock, Dario Argento inspired me personally throughout my entire adult life since I was in art college in the early 90’s. Now I get to pick up one of my inspirations from the airport tomorrow and spend a weekend with him, which is frankly a very elevating experience!

I grew up watching Corey Feldman in Gremlins. To this day I’ve never seen The Lost Boys, but I’m sure sooner or later I will get around to it. I’m also shooting Jennifer Rubin from A Nightmare on Elm Street, Sean Pertwee from Dog Soldiers and many others.

It’s also great to see the fans as they come to these events and capture their reactions as they meet their idols. It’s going to be a full on experience, and if you don’t yet have your ticket head on over to www.horrorconuk.com and I’ll see you there!
